Hello World!

Finally got a chance to take the new whip out for a short roadtrip. Met up with some friends along the way.

We met up and had lunch at Kanpai Sushi before heading out through Ortega Highway. Mark had to work so unfortunately didn't make the drive with us. Maybe next time. Here's a few shots of Mark's AMG SLK, David's A3s, and of course, my M3. The boy enjoyed watching the hard top convertible going up.

Unfortunately it started raining once we got to the interesting twisties so I didn't bother stopping for photos along the way since I preferred to keep my camera dry and mud outside the vehicle.

And here are a couple of shots at the lake. You can't tell, but the boy is hiding in the front passenger seat since he thought it was too cold and as usual, didn't want his picture taken. The drive was fun and it probably was a good thing we were behind a few cars through a good portion of the drive. Once they pulled off to the side it was really hard to not just gun it, but I really don't want to get any speeding tickets in this due to my tints and lack of front plate. Don't want to have to pay more than necessary if I can avoid it. Plus, there are a few areas of double fine zones on the drive. Better safe than sorry...plus, it was beginning to get wet too. I'm sure David was itching for me to floor it, but he patiently kept a reasonable distance behind, hehe. I'm sure both cars could have handled far more than what we allowed.

Some people think kids like Ramune for the marble. I'm thinking the suction is a big part of it too.

The boy at Kapai Sushi messin' with his second bottle of Ramune.

This was the first stop of our short roadtrip with @robots4change and his brother-in-law.

Thanks, Mark for an awesome meal!

Massive blister on my thumb from rubbing gunk off my trunk left by the M3 badge.

I wasn't real happy with the double-sided tape that came on the monochrome M3 badge I bought...it was yellow and visible even after I filled in the edges with black sharpie so it made it look cheap to me. I got tired of looking at it and noticing it every time so I finally took it off today.

The cheap part (which wasn't cheap, actually) left me a little present on my thumb. The adhesive might have been ugly, but it sure was strong. I'm just glad it didn't damage my paint. It's nice and smooth now :D

Yamaha Creates Acoustic Design for Engine of the Lexus LFA Super Sports Car (via @chriscasper)

Check out the story by Yamaha and have a listen. It sounds amazing! Also, here's some more pics of the LFA to accompany the acoustics story (thanks for the heads-up @chriscaper).

If I can get myself and the boy healthy enough, here's where we want to drive this weekend.

Ortega Highway heading North East toward Lake Elsinore:

And heading South West back home:

I love Google Earth.

If we can't get healthy enough to do it this weekend, we have to go next weekend. I'm dying to get out of the house. Feels like this has been the most unproductive week of my life.

Parking away from everyone else...except @tquach12 since I know he will be careful with his 335.

This is one of the downsides to having a nicer car. You end up worrying about where to park it. These two do make a handsome pair though, don't they?

Black GT-R parked in front of @oakley HQ

Took this pic earlier this week but haven't had a chance to upload it yet. Sure is nice being able to see so many cool cars at work on a regular basis.

@giovannimari Look at what we did to @edreisedreis cube while he was on vacation

Another typical “workspace reconfiguration” took place while Ed was traveling. He is taking better pictures but here’s a few from the iPhone. The “Virtual Mirror” is a real mirror with a pair of sunglasses taped on it. If you squint with one eye, it actually works! The “Ed Reis” logo is priceless...

Timeless Typography. A comparison of Coke vs Pepsi logos over the years.

I thought this was an interesting comparison though it doesn’t exactly tell the whole story. I believe there were some Coke redesigns in the middle, but they’ve always been subtle or for specific product lines (like Diet Coke). However, the point is, the original corporate mark has remained largely unchanged for 124 years. Now, that’s timeless typography.
