Hello World!

Waiting for our tour to start at Schloss Neüschwanstein.

Took a horse carriage up to the castle...otherwise the walk would have been 40 minutes. Boy probably would hve started complaining after 5.

Days 1-2 were exciting because it was all about the anticipation and delivery of the car...but it didn't feel like vacation. Day 3 is a whole different story. This is the Germany I came to see.

  • Pictures 4-6 are the two mini M3's that the boy bought himself as souvenirs. He's been keeping them in his backpack so he can check them out at a moment's notice, hehe.
  • Picture 8 is the view out of the balcony in our room. Couldn't have asked for a better one.
  • Pictures 12-15 are out on the rented paddle boat.
  • Picture 16 is a view of our hotel (on the left) from the paddle boat. We're in the annex which is not connected to the main hotel (on the right). If you look closely, you'll see what looks like a red Ferrari in the water. There were two paddle boats that looked like that. One yellow, one red, and yes, they both had fake Ferrari logos on them, LOL.

It's too bad we're only staying here one night, but we have other fun things we need to get to...

Day 3: Driving through Sudelfeld-Bergstrasse.

Today was our first real driving day, and let me just say it was an absolute treat! The part from Münich to Brannenburg was pretty anti-climactic since we were just getting out of the city and there was some traffic, but once with hit the outskirts, it was awesome.

I never did get the Navi to import the routes I set up on BMW-Routes.com so I had to manually enter them. Wasn't too much of a hassle, but it would have been much better if the import simply would have worked. We stopped at Milbing which is where we took the first two pics. The other three are at a spot along the way somewhere on or near the Sudelfeldstrasse. It's a beautiful mountain roads with lots of great twisties and amazing scenery on both sides. Lots of trees, open fields and mountains. That was a ton of fun. Kyle took some video using the Flip Mino which I'll try to see if they are small enough to upload later.

The map of today's route is below:

The boy likes the smell of coffee.

I didn't realize the boy was deleting all of his videos after he took them. At least they were all faily mundane (like this one). We should get more interesting stuff today at Die Welt.

Day 1: Travel

For me, it was pretty much just a basic travel day, but the boy was pretty excited since this was his first time on a plane.

Photos above are:

  • Waiting at LAX
  • On Plane
  • On Balcony of our room at the Renaissance München Hotel

Security guy at LAX stopped the boy as he walked through the metal detector. Held him by his shoulders and faced him toward another guard. Then he said, “Just give him snacks and no one gets hurt.” Boy got a kick out of that since that’s what was on his shirt.

Kyle watched Monsters vs. Aliens and some show about pandas on the plane while I watched Star Trek and Fast & Furious. It was pretty painful watching Star Trek on the tiny screen with lousy headphones, but I could tell it WOULD have been a good movie had I actually had a good AV experience.

I guess I didn’t get a ton of sleep on the plane because my right eye has a red spot now. Boy called it “scary-looking.” Hope it goes away after a good nights’ sleep...and I hope I actually CAN sleep since it’s supposed to be noon right now but it’s 9:30pm in Germany. Fortunately, the boy has already fallen asleep so I think he’ll be fine tomorrow. He was getting a bit cranky just before dinner.

We get the M3 tomorrow morning!

This ought to keep him occupied for awhile.

He's watching Monsters vs. Aliens.

Boy on his first plane. Immediately got his pillow and blanket out.

Look at that face of excitement! He's stoked there is a TV screen in the seat.

The boy is giddy and doesn't know what to do with himself.

He is counting the hours and minutes to when we leave. Can you say, “bouncing off the walls?”
